Company setup and closing
Branch
A physical branch of the company, for tagging employees and documents. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Branch is a simple master naming a physical office or outlet of the company, such as Koteshwor, used to tag employees and documents. It is not a cost center and not a warehouse; it has no accounts and no ledger effect. Its value is as a label that an Accounting Dimension can turn into a reportable tag: create a dimension on Branch and every GL Entry can carry it, so you see the Profit and Loss per branch. The IRD also asks for branch addresses on the PAN registration, so keeping the list here matches the registration. Keep names identical to the signboards.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Setup > Branch > New and type the branch name.
- 02Save. The branch is available on Employee records.
- 03To report by branch, create an Accounting Dimension on Branch under Invoicing.
- 04Pick the branch on each document; filter reports by the Branch dimension.
When to use it
Create under Setup > Branch.
