Bikram Sambat date
Also called: BS date, नेपाली मिति
The Nepali calendar date. The IRD requires it on invoices; BRAccount stamps every document with it beside the Gregorian date.
In detail
The Bikram Sambat date is the official Nepali calendar date, about 56 years and 8 months ahead of the Gregorian one, with months such as Shrawan, Bhadra and Ashwin whose lengths vary from year to year. The IRD counts every deadline in it: VAT returns within 25 days of the Nepali month end, the fiscal year from Shrawan 1, and the date printed on a tax invoice. BRAccount stores the posting date in Gregorian form so reports and bank statements line up, and derives the BS date for every document, print format, the Sales Book and the VAT return. You never type it; if the BS date on a bill looks wrong, the posting date is wrong.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Open any submitted Sales Invoice; the BS date shows beside the posting date.
- 02Print it: the tax invoice format carries the BS date as the IRD requires.
- 03Open Nepal IRD > Sales Book; the month filter is a Nepali month such as Bhadra 2083.
- 04To change a BS date, change the posting date on a draft; the conversion follows.
- 05Check the Nepali month end before filing: the VAT return is due 25 days after it.
When to use it
Nothing to do: the BS date is derived from the posting date and printed on bills.
