Tax Withholding Group
Groups several TDS categories so one supplier can carry more than one rate by item or invoice. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Tax Withholding Group bundles several Tax Withholding Categories so that one supplier can be set up once even though it bills you for things taxed at different TDS rates. A landlord who also does repairs needs Rent (Resident) 10% on the rent invoice and Contract Payment 1.5% on the repair invoice; a group holding both lets the Purchase Invoice pick the right one per bill or per item. The group is a master and posts nothing itself; the category chosen on the invoice produces the TDS row that credits TDS Payable - YFF. Without a group you would keep switching the category on the Supplier record, which is how the wrong rate ends up on a bill.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Taxes > Tax Withholding Group > New.
- 02Name it, for example Landlord and Contractor, and add rows for each category.
- 03Save, then go to Buying > Supplier and set Tax Withholding Group instead of a single category.
- 04On a new Purchase Invoice, pick the category that fits the bill from the group's list.
- 05Submit. The chosen category's TDS row credits TDS Payable - YFF.
When to use it
Create under Accounts > Tax Withholding Group and set it on the Supplier instead of a single category.
Example from the demo books
