Tax category: Nepal VAT 13%
The standard category for VAT registered domestic customers and suppliers.
In detail
Nepal VAT 13% is the category for ordinary VAT registered customers and suppliers inside Nepal, which covers nearly every business you deal with. Two Tax Rules map it: Nepal VAT 13% Sales to VAT 13% - YFF and Nepal VAT 13% Purchase to VAT 13% - YFF, so the standard rate appears automatically on both sides. On a sale the 13% row credits 2261 - VAT Payable - YFF; on a purchase it debits 1241 - VAT Receivable - YFF. Jivan Dahal is in this category, which is why ACC-SINV-2026-00004 shows Rs 4,160 of VAT on Rs 32,000. Set it as the default category on the company so new parties start there.
Formula
VAT = Net amount x 13 / 100; Rs 32,000 x 13 / 100 = Rs 4,160
Accounting entry
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Debtors - YFF (Jivan Dahal) | Rs 36,160 | |
| Sale of Goods - YFF | Rs 32,000 | |
| 2261 - VAT Payable - YFF | Rs 4,160 |
