Asset Movement
Moves an asset to a new location, custodian or employee. No ledger effect.
In detail
An Asset Movement records that an asset changed place or hands: a new Location, a new custodian employee, or both. It is a submittable document so the move is dated and locked, and the Asset record is updated to the new location and custodian. Nothing posts to the General Ledger, because moving a laptop from the head office to the Koteshwor Store changes where it sits, not what it is worth. The movement history on the Asset shows every move, which is how a physical verification at year end reconciles the list to what is on the shelves. Purchases also create a first movement when a location is given on the Asset.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Assets > Asset Movement > New.
- 02Set Purpose to Transfer and pick the company.
- 03Add a row with the asset, the source location and the target location, for example Koteshwor Store.
- 04Optionally set From Employee and To Employee for a custodian change.
- 05Submit. The Asset shows the new location and the move is logged in Asset Activity.
When to use it
Create under Assets > Asset Movement. Submitted movements lock.
Example from the demo books
