Asset Depreciation Schedule
The row by row plan of depreciation dates and amounts for one asset and finance book. Posting a row creates a Depreciation Entry journal.
In detail
The Asset Depreciation Schedule is the month by month plan that BRAccount builds when an Asset is submitted: one row per period with the date, the amount and, once posted, the Journal Entry number. There is one schedule per asset and finance book. Each posted row produces a Depreciation Entry that debits Depreciation - Property, Plant and Equipment - YFF and credits Accumulated Depreciation - YFF. In the demo the rows of ACC-ASS-2026-00001 and ACC-ASS-2026-00002 falling in the same month were posted together as ACC-JV-2026-00091 for Rs 1,235.54. You cannot edit a submitted schedule; cancel and amend the Asset to change useful life or salvage value.
Formula
Row amount = (Cost - Salvage value) / Total number of depreciations; the last row absorbs rounding
Accounting entry
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Depreciation - Property, Plant and Equipment - YFF | Rs 1,235.54 | |
| Accumulated Depreciation - YFF | Rs 1,235.54 |
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Assets > Asset Depreciation Schedule and open the schedule for the asset.
- 02Read the rows: each shows the depreciation date, amount and the Journal Entry once posted.
- 03The nightly job, or Ledger Automation Settings, posts due rows as Depreciation Entries.
- 04To post by hand, open the Asset and click Post Depreciation Entries from the menu.
- 05To change the plan, cancel and amend the Asset; the schedule is rebuilt on submit.
When to use it
Created automatically when an Asset is submitted; cancel and amend the Asset to change it.
