Location
A physical place where assets sit, as a tree such as Head Office > 2nd Floor. No ledger effect.
In detail
A Location is a physical place where assets are kept, arranged as a tree such as Head Office > 2nd Floor or Koteshwor Store > Back Room. Every Asset carries one, and an Asset Movement changes it. It has no ledger effect and is not a stock Warehouse; warehouses hold trading stock, locations hold fixed assets. Locations make the year end physical verification possible, because the Fixed Asset Register can be filtered by location and walked room by room. They also let you see the assets of a branch before it is sold or closed. Set the locations up before the first Asset so each record starts in the right place.
How to record it in BRAccount
- 01Go to Assets > Location > New.
- 02Type the name, for example Koteshwor Store, and tick Is Group if it will hold sub locations.
- 03Pick a parent location to build the tree.
- 04Save, then set the location on each Asset or move assets with Asset Movement.
- 05Open the Fixed Asset Register and filter by location for the physical check.
When to use it
Create under Assets > Location and set it on the Asset and on Asset Movements.
