Nepal tax and IRD

IRD

Also called: Inland Revenue Department, आन्तरिक राजस्व विभाग

Nepal's tax authority: VAT, income tax, TDS and the e-billing rules all come from it.

In detail

The Inland Revenue Department is the Ministry of Finance body that administers VAT, income tax, TDS and excise, runs the taxpayer portal and the CBMS e-billing server, and issues the rulebooks that billing software must follow. Every business deals with it monthly through the VAT and TDS returns, three times a year through advance income tax instalments, and once a year through the income tax return and audited statements. Its offices can inspect records at any time, including the Standard View and activity log on demand. Every document and report in the Nepal IRD workspace of BRAccount exists to meet one of these requirements, and the Compliance Checklist scores how far the setup goes.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Nepal IRD in the sidebar; the workspace groups every IRD-facing document and report.
  2. 02Open IRD Settings and confirm PAN, CBMS credentials and the fiscal year are set.
  3. 03Open Compliance Checklist and read which items the software meets and which need your filing or action.
  4. 04Each month, use VAT Return, Sales Book and Purchase Book to prepare the filings on the IRD portal.
  5. 05During an inspection, open Standard View and Activity Log and print or export what the officer asks for.

When to use it

Everything in the Nepal IRD workspace exists to satisfy an IRD requirement.
