Bank Accounts

A group of Bank type, no postings. It totals every bank ledger, such as Bank Account (rename me) and Bank Suspense, on the Balance Sheet.

In detail

Bank Accounts, numbered 1262 with account type Bank, is the group under Cash and cash equivalents that totals every bank ledger the company keeps: the main current account, any savings or call accounts, wallet balances such as eSewa if treated as bank, and Bank Suspense for unexplained statement lines. Each real bank account gets its own child ledger and a matching Bank Account master under Banking, which is what the Bank Reconciliation Tool and Bank Statement Import work with. The group total, together with Cash, gives the Rs 25,68,160 of the demo books. Posting to the group is impossible; a Payment Entry always names one bank ledger so that reconciliation can match it to a statement.

Formula

Bank Accounts = Sum of every bank ledger beneath it + Bank Suspense; each ledger should equal its reconciled statement balance.

How to record it in BRAccount

  1. 01Go to Accounts Setup > Chart of Accounts and expand Cash and cash equivalents > Bank Accounts.
  2. 02Click Add Child for each real bank account with Account Type Bank; rename Bank Account (rename me) first.
  3. 03Go to Banking > Bank Account > New and link each master to its ledger so statements can be imported.
  4. 04Pick the specific bank ledger on every Payment Entry; the group is rejected.
  5. 05Open Financial Reports > Balance Sheet; the group shows the combined bank balance.

When to use it

Do not post here. Add one child account per real bank account and pick it on Payment Entries.

Example from the demo books
