Sale of Goods
Also called: Sales, Sales Revenue
Income from selling physical products, before VAT, on the Profit and Loss statement. Credited each time a Sales Invoice is submitted.
In detail
Sale of Goods is the income ledger for physical items sold: trekking gear, souvenirs, any stock item. When a Sales Invoice with a stock item is submitted, the net price is credited here, the 13 percent VAT is credited to VAT Payable and the gross total is debited to Debtors; if the invoice also updates stock, Cost of Goods Sold and Stock In Hand move at the same time. A credit note, a Sales Invoice marked Is Return, debits this ledger to reverse a sale, because deleting a submitted invoice is forbidden. The credit balance grows with sales and is reset to zero by the Period Closing Voucher. Each posting should match a row in the Sales Book.
Formula
Sale of Goods for the period = Net value of goods invoiced - Credit notes, excluding VAT
